What is Plotwarp?

Plotwarp is a roleplaying game made of words. You create a character, drop them into a world, and an AI writes what happens next based on what you decide. Nothing is scripted: there is no branching tree an author drew in advance, so the story is written the moment you choose, and it goes places nobody planned for.

You do not need to be a writer or a gamer to play. If you have ever finished a book and wished the ending had gone differently, you already know what to do here — type what your character does, and read what the world does back.

How it plays

First you make a character: a name, a look, a personality. Every world runs its own stat line, tuned to its genre — a cultivation world tracks Cultivation, Qi and Health; a horror world tracks Health, Sanity and Clues; a romance tracks Happiness, Attraction and Reputation. Those numbers decide whether what you try actually works.

Then you pick a world, and play. Each turn, the AI reads your choice and writes the next stretch of the story around it in real time. You will hit situations you did not see coming, meet side characters with their own agendas, and make calls that follow your character for chapters.

No two runs land the same way. Every decision moves your stats, your relationships and the direction of the whole story — and when it ends, you can publish it to the library so other players can read the run you made.

The worlds

Plotwarp ships with a shelf of worlds, each with its own voice and its own stats: cultivation and martial-arts sects; rebuilding an empire after being thrown back in time; horror and survival; romance that actually branches; palace intrigue; MM and FF romance; high school; detective work; deep-space sci-fi; the world after the end; myth and gods. And then free mode, where you describe the setting yourself and the AI builds the world around your description.

Why we built it

Everyone has a story they would rather be inside than reading. The point of this game is to put you in the main character's seat and let an AI carry the parts that are tedious to write — the descriptions, the side characters, the consequences you did not think through — so what is left is the deciding.

The other half is the library. Every published run adds to a shelf of stories that no author sat down and wrote, and players read each other's the same way they would read anything else. Players are readers and authors at the same time, and that is the whole idea.

The tech

Plotwarp runs on frontier large language models, prompted and constrained for fiction rather than chat. The models are steered per world — pacing, register, what kind of trouble is allowed to happen — so a horror chapter does not read like a romance chapter with the nouns swapped.

Underneath, the game keeps state: your stats, who you have met, what you owe, what you did forty chapters ago. Each turn is generated against that record, which is what stops the story from quietly forgetting the thing that mattered most.
