Terms of service

Plotwarp is an AI roleplaying game: you make a character, and a language model writes the story around the choices you make. The service includes:

• Creating and managing characters
• Playing stories the AI writes turn by turn, in real time
• Buying credits to keep playing

• You sign in with Google. We never see or store a password
• You are responsible for everything that happens on your account
• One account per person
• Selling, sharing or transferring an account is not allowed

a) What credits are

• Credits are the in-game currency and a licence to use the service, not money. They have no value outside the game and cannot be cashed out or transferred
• New accounts get free credits so you can play before you pay
• Each turn costs credits at the rate shown in the game before you spend them

b) Who you are buying from

• Purchases are sold and processed by Polar Software, Inc., our merchant of record. Polar is the seller on your order: it takes the payment, charges and remits any sales tax or VAT, issues the invoice, and handles chargebacks
• Your card details go to Polar and its payment processors. We never receive or store them
• Your receipt comes from Polar, and the line on your card statement may show Polar rather than Plotwarp

c) Refunds

• Unspent credits can be refunded within 14 days of purchase — email us, or ask Polar directly, and we will sort it out
• Credits already spent on turns are not refundable, unless a confirmed bug on our side consumed them
• Fraud, abuse or exploiting the payment flow ends with the account closed

Longer versions of all three, written for the people who have to read them before they buy: how refunds work and who sells you what, and what shows on your statement.

• Stories are generated by an AI from your choices. They are entertainment, and can be wrong about history, science or anything else
• We filter what we can, but we cannot guarantee that every generated line is accurate or appropriate
• The story text generated in your sessions is yours to keep, share and publish; we may use anonymised data to improve the service
• Do not use the service to generate content that is illegal, incites violence or hatred, sexualises minors, or targets a real person

While using the service, you agree not to:

• Attack, disrupt or reverse-engineer the systems
• Use bots, scripts or automation to farm the service
• Try to reach anyone else's account or our internal data
• Open extra accounts to farm free credits or promotions
• Break the law where you are playing from

The Plotwarp name, interface, source code and artwork belong to us. Do not copy, redistribute or resell them without written permission. What the AI writes in your own sessions is yours, as clause 4 says.

• The service is provided "as is", with no warranty of any kind
• We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service
• We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or bug-free
• Our total liability is capped at what you paid us in the previous 30 days

We may:

• Suspend or close an account that breaks these terms
• Change, pause or discontinue the service with reasonable notice
• Delete accounts inactive for 12 straight months, after an email warning

You can stop using the service, or ask us to delete your account, at any time.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the site, and continuing to play after an update means you accept them.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to good-faith negotiation first, and then to the state or federal courts sitting in Delaware.
